 The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) unveiled a new campaign educating retailers that Federal law now requires tobacco purchasers to be 21 years old. The campaign’s message to retailers is simple. Don’t sell tobacco to anyone under the age of 21. Daily WI COVID-19 Cases Tick Past 800

WI Native Named Tops in Germany

A Wisconsin native is being named the head coach of one of the top soccer teams in Germany.  Jesse Marsch will take over the reins of RB Leipzig for the 2021-2022 season.  Marsch coached the New York Red Bulls of the MLS for three years and also spent 2019 coaching RB Salzburg in Austria.  Marsch grew up in Racine and played both in the MLS and on the U.S. Men’s National Team.

EC Woman Sentenced to Federal Prison

Timothy M. O’Shea, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that 39 year old Diana Xiong, Eau Claire, was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 90 months in federal prison for distribution of methamphetamine. This prison term will be followed by 4 years of supervised release. A new survey ranks Eau Claire among the top small cities to start a small business. The Verizon survey ranked Eau Claire 36th out of 50-small cities across the country. Cities were ranked based on population size, education level, commuting times, broadband access, and income. The top two on the list are cities in Wyoming, followed by six in Florida.

Invasive, Toxic Plants Sprouting Up

A species of invasive, toxic plants are sprouting in Wisconsin. The state Department of Natural Resources says the plant has yellow flowers and heart shaped green leaves and is commonly named fig buttercup, pilewort, lesser crowfoot, or dusky maiden. Reward Offered in Animal Cruelty Case

There’s a 500-dollar reward for any information that will lead Dunn County deputies to whoever shot more than a dozen cats and kittens earlier this week. The sheriff’s office found the cats, along with 18 others that survived, along the side of the road near the township of Spring Brook.
