DHS Confirms 350+ New COVID-19 Cases

The Department of Health Services is confirming 383 new COVID-19 cases today.  That boosts the total number of cases to more than 607-thousand.  There are five additional deaths reported to raise that toll to nearly six-thousand-980 Wisconsinites who have died from the coronavirus. Wood Co. Has Worst Sex Crime Rate

Wood County has the worst sex crime rate per capita in the state.  The Wisconsin Department of Justice released data today on sex offenses and crimes last year.  Wood County was second in the state for sex crimes in 2019 with Eau Claire holding the undesirable top spot.  The DOJ says there were 121 sex crimes in Wood County in 2020, ten more than in 2019.

Highway Department Plan on Road to Green Light

It’s going to cost more to build a new highway facility in Eau Claire County, but the board is planning to move forward on the plan.  The county board voted unanimously to move forward with the project, although it’s going to cost about six-million-dollars more to build it.  The new facility is supposed to go up on Eau Claire’s south side.

More Charges For Missouri Man Accused Of Killing Shawano Brothers

The Missouri man accused of killing two brothers from Shawano County is facing new charges. A federal grand jury yesterday indicted 27-year-old Joey Nelson on mail fraud charges. The federal charges cover the bad cattle deal that brought brothers Nicholas and Justin Diemel to Missouri back in 2019.
