The Eau Claire Police Department is naming two new school resource officers to serve during the 2021-22 school year. Officers Tom Xiong and Ellen Scott were selected by the community. Scott will serve as the S-R-O at Memorial High School. Xiong will work in Northstar Middle School.

Read MoreOne of Wisconsin’s National Guard units is heading overseas for the first time since the first Gulf War. About 150 troops with the 107th Maintenance Company, based in Sparta, deployed over the weekend. They will first stop in Texas, then will go to Europe for a multi-national training exercise. Commanders say this is the first trip overseas and the first deployment for many of the troops. There’s no word as to just how long the troops will be deployed.

Police got the call about shots being fired in the 1000- block of 3rd Avenue on Monday evening. Officers say the shots may have come from two groups of people shooting at each other.
