A lot of different ideas will take the next step toward becoming laws at the Wisconsin Capitol today. Lawmakers are set to vote on everything from police reforms, to changes in absentee voting, to a return-to-work plan. Both the state Senate and the Assembly have votes scheduled today. There is a huge divide at the Wisconsin Capitol about what to do with the state’s extra four-billion-dollars. The Republicans who are writing Wisconsin’s next state budget want to expand I-94 just west of Milwaukee. The powerful Joint Finance Committee yesterday approved plans to add more lanes to I-94 as part of the state’s transportation budget. It will cost Wisconsin 82-million-dollars just to plan for the project, but the work itself is expected to be over a billion-dollars. The suspect in a Monroe County murder is hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an axe attack that killed one man and wounded two other people on Sunday.  Police were called about a domestic disturbance and a man with an axe shortly before noon on Sunday.  They found the suspect with a self-inflicted wound and took him into custody.  One of the wounded remains hospitalized and the other has been released.  The victim

 Children under the age of 12 will be involved in a new coronavirus vaccine study conducted by Pfizer.  The drugmaker says up to 45-hundred children will be enrolled and it will take place at more than 90 clinical sites around the world.  Also, the dosage given to children will depend on their age.  The U.S. currently allows children age 12 and over to get the Pfizer shots to protect themselves against the virus.

The manufacturer of Madison’s new fire truck says the vehicle is the first of its kind in North America.  The department debuted its first electric truck today which promises zero emissions while producing all of the pumper power needed to fight fires.  Pierce Manufacturing says the new truck seats six and can carry 500 gallons of water and can pump 15-hundred gallons per minute. The former pharmacist who pleaded guilty to intentionally ruining doses of COVID-19 vaccine is going to prison.  Steven Brandenburg of Grafton pleaded guilty earlier this year to tampering with a consumer product.  He was sentenced in Milwaukee today to three years in prison.

A Wisconsin couple is using a loophole to celebrate Pride month.  Memo Fachino and his husband, Lance Mier, were told by their Racine neighborhood association they had to take down their rainbow flag.  The rules state that only the U.S. flag can be flown.  But there aren’t any rules about light bulbs, so they bought multicolored floodlights to bathe their home in a rainbow.  Images of the house went viral online.  Fachino says they aren’t trying to stick it to the association

The Eau Claire Police Department has arrested two people in connection with a shooting that occurred on April 8,2021, in the 2400 block of Sessions St. Witnesses indicated shots were fired from a vehicle toward another occupied vehicle. No one was injured in the shooting. Through a combination of interviews, digital forensic analysis and neighborhood surveillance video, investigators were able to identify the suspect vehicle as well as the two occupants.
