The state of Wisconsin may soon pay a little more for paper, but Democrats at the State Capitol say it’s a good thing. A number of lawmakers yesterday introduced a pair of ‘buy American’ proposals. One would encourage the state to buy American, while the other would require the state to buy paper from a Wisconsin-based company. State Senator Brad Pfaff says buying paper from a Wisconsin company helps Wisconsin workers in Wisconsin mills, and helps keep Wisconsin communities going.

The new “Great Lakes, High Stakes” effort with continue through the weekend in an effort to reduce highway traffic deaths due to speeding. Officials say that nearly 11-hundred people were killed on Michigan’s roads last year which was nearly 100 more deaths than 2019. Police in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota are also part of the program.
