A new report says more wolves were killed in Wisconsin than reported by the state’s Department of Natural Resources. Three University of Wisconsin scientists are out with a report that says another 105 wolves in the state were killed either by poachers, farmers, or hit by cars since the federal government removed protections for the gray wolf. Authorities got a call from a woman around 10:00 last night saying she and a friend were stranded on the lake. Police used a ping of her cell phone and a drone from local police to locate the pair. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office says no one was home when the SUV driven by a South Dakota man smashed into the front of the home. Deputies say the driver left the crash, they found him hours later. They believe he was driving drunk. The sheriff’s office says the crash remains under investigation.
