The Eau Claire Area School District plans to begin the 2021-22 school year with full-time in-person learning across all grade levels. As it moves forward, the district will return to many of its pre-pandemic procedures. Pre- kindergarten (PK) students will attend school four days per week during regular school hours, with 3.5-hour sessions in the morning or afternoon, Monday through Thursday. The Northern Wisconsin State Fair and Northwestern Bank have partnered to donate a portion of every Northwestern Bank Grandstand ticket sold for Leinenkugel’s Main Stage performances at the 2021 Northern Wisconsin State Fair. A combined $2 per ticket sold has been donated to the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley – Chippewa Falls Center. A total of 2,349 Northwestern Bank Grandstand tickets were sold across the performances during the 2021 Fair. This correlates to a combined donation

The total from Milwaukee’s latest violent weekend stands at 12 shot, including three people who were killed. Milwaukee Police say they handled a dozen shootings between Friday night and yesterday morning. Three people died in those shootings. Milwaukee Police are asking for help in finding suspects in almost all of the cases.

A jury in northeast Wisconsin is set to hear the evidence in a 45-year-old double murder starting today. Raymond Vannieuwenhoven is on trial for the murder of David Schuldes and his fiancé, Ellen Matheys, back in 1976. They were shot during a camping trip at McClintock Park in Silver Cliff. Investigators linked Vannieuwenhoven to the case through DNA and an online database.

It’s unlikely a Manitowoc woman will see the millions of dollars that a jury wants her to have in her discrimination suit against Walmart, but they did rule in her favor. A federal jury in Green Bay last week ruled in favor of Marlo Spaeth and awarded her 125-million-dollars. A Walmart spokesman says that will be reduced to 300-thousand-dollars because of federal caps. The jury said Walmart discriminated against Spaeth, who has down syndrome, by changing her schedule then firing

There are some people who are still not happy about how the Dane County Fair handled violent crowds over the weekend. Fair managers closed the fair early this weekend after large crowds of young people started fighting in the parking lot Friday night. Four people in Wisconsin are sick with salmonella traced back to tainted salad. The state’s Department of Health Services on Friday said Wisconsin is included in the recall of BrightFarms salads. The pre-bagged salad mixes were sold at Pick ‘n Save stores across the state. DHS says people started getting sick last month. Eau Claire’s school bus company is looking for drivers. Student Transit says it’s about 20 drivers short of where they were last year. The company’s Jennifer Dewitz says they need to hire drivers now in order to get them trained and certified in time for the start of school in the fall. A weekend fire in Black River Falls has firefighters talking about grilling safety. Flames burned a grill and a propane tank yesterday. Fire crews say they were able to put out the flames before the tank exploded. The fire department says the fire is a reminder to clean your grill and to keep grills away from your home just in case.
