We now know more about a deadly shooting in Eau Claire. Officers responded to the 2800 block of Terry Lane on the North Side on Wednesday afternoon to find 14-year-old Marwan D. Washington suffering a gunshot wound. Despite life saving efforts he died at the scene and we now that 26-year-old Austin Vang is currently being held at the jail for 1st degree reckless homicide charges. Renelle Laffe, the founder of Hope in the Valley charity, is facing charges of theft in a business setting greater than ten-thousand dollars. Laffe is accused of funneling money from the breast cancer charity’s Dragon Boat Festival, the event she was co-director for. On Thursday, Judge John F. Manydeeds rejected the agreement, advising prosecutors and the defense to work towards a new resolution.
