Remains Identified

Krista Halderson is confirmed dead.  DNA testing shows human remains found along the Wisconsin River July 14th are the missing Windsor woman.  The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Chandler Halderson is accused of murdering both of his parents. They disappeared in early July.  Bart Halderson’s remains were found near Cottage Grove more than two weeks ago.

Cleanup Continues

Cleanup and power restoration continues in several counties including Winnebago and Fond du Lac.  The National Weather Service in Green Bay today confirms straight line wind damage from near Omro and Eureka, south to Rush Lake and Pickett.  The Weather Service in Milwaukee says it was 70 to 75 mile an hour straight line winds that tore through the Ripon and Brandon area Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Seven tornadoes are now being confirmed in Wisconsin from a string of severe thunderstorms

American Family Field Loosens Up On Bags

The bag policy at American Family Field is now a little less restrictive.  When the Milwaukee Brewers open a six-game homestand on Monday fans will be able to bring a bigger bag into the stadium.  Previous policy allowed only small purses.  Now single compartment bags as large as 12 by 6 by 12 as well as gallon size Zip Lock bags are allowed.

WI Pumps See a Slight Plump

The average price for regular gas in Wisconsin is a few cents higher a gallon compared to a week ago.  Heading into the weekend Triple-A says the price at the pump in the Badger State is three-dollars-and-three-cents a gallon while the national average is three-16.  Drivers are paying over three-dollars-a-gallon in Eau Claire, La Crosse, Milwaukee, Racine, Janesville, Wausau, Superior, Kenosha and St. Croix counties.  The average cost per gallon is two-99 in Sheboygan and Madison and two-96 in Green Bay.

National Eagle Center Bald and Golden Eagle viewing field trips are back! After a hiatus during the 2020/2021 winter season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Center’s team of expert naturalists are preparing to lead guests to eagle viewing hotspots once again starting this fall. “The eagle viewing along the Upper Mississippi River was phenomenal last winter,” said Scott Mehus, Director of Education at the Center. “We were very disappointed that we weren’t able to share that experience with guests.

EC Is Back to Masks

New guidance from the CDC released on Tuesday, July 27 recommended masks for everyone, regardless of vaccination status, in areas of substantial or high community transmission. This guidance also indicated anyone who visits, works, or learns in a K-12 school setting should wear a mask,regardless of vaccination status. State of Emergency Declared After Storms

Wisconsin’s latest round of storms were bad enough to get the governor to declare an emergency. Governor Evers yesterday called for a state of emergency. The order clears the way for the state to help any local community hit by high winds or tornadoes. The state of emergency means the Wisconsin National Guard could even be called-up. Murder Motive Traced to $600 Debt

Investigators in La Crosse County say the three people killed in last week’s triple murder died over a 600-dollar debt. Investigators yesterday said they have both of the suspects in last Friday’s triple homicide in custody. Suspect Khamthaneth Rattanasack was arrested in Portage County late Wednesday, and suspect Nya Thao was arrested in Wausau yesterday. Search Continues on WI River

Crews are expected to be back out on the Wisconsin River today as they search for a missing man. Rescuers in the village of Maine in Marathon County say a 60-year-old man went missing when his boat capsized yesterday afternoon. Crews were out on the river for about seven hours yesterday. They say the search is difficult because the river is high and fast.
