New Community Testing Site Planned

A new community COVID-19 testing site is beginning on Saturday, September 25th at Jacob’s Well Church(3211 N 50th Ave, Lake Hallie, WI) in northern Eau Claire County. Exit to Close for Lighting Upgrades

A popular exit off of Highway 53 will temporarily close for lighting repairs. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will close the exit ramp 86 tunnel at the Highway 12 and 53 interchange. The ramp will close on September 27th, and will reopen on Friday, October 15th. New LED lights will be installed as part of Wisconsin’s DOTs retrofit program.

A new Hy-Vee will open in Eau Claire in a week. To help make checkout easier, a new app called Hy-Vee Scan and Go will allow customers to scan items as they shop. You can check out on your phone and bring your own bag or go to the Scan and Go area located in the store and scan a QR code to complete your purchase. The new Hy-Vee will open on Claremont Avenue on September 28th.

Charges Filed in Quadruple Murder

The man accused of killing the four people found dead in Dunn County says he snapped. Prosecutors in Minnesota yesterday filed second-degree murder charges against 38-year-old Antoine Suggs. He told police he snapped when he killed the four earlier this month, but there are not any other specifics. Suggs’ father, Darren Osborne, is looking at charges here in Wisconsin for hiding the four bodies in a cornfield in Dunn County. EC Man Sentenced to Probation

An Eau Claire man won’t be going to prison for trying to run down his ex-girlfriend and her mother back in July. A judge sentenced 28-year-old Henri Leavesseur to four years probation. Police say he tried to hit the two women with his truck. Part of his probation requires him to stay sober and stay away from the ex and her mother. Leavesseur had been in jail since his arrest in July.

Tornado Confirmed

It was a tornado that knocked down a barn at a home in Trempealeau County Monday night. The National Weather Service yesterday confirmed a tornado touched down just south of Strum. Forecasters say it was an EF-0 tornado with wind speeds of up to 105 miles-per-hour. The tornado was part of a line of strong and severe storms that cut across the state Monday. There are no reports of any injuries.

WI Tribes File Lawsuit Over Wolf Hunt

The latest lawsuit over Wisconsin’s wolf hunt is coming from the state’s tribes. Six Native American nations yesterday filed a lawsuit to try and stop the hunt which is scheduled for November. The tribes say the hunt violates treaties with the government going back to the 1800’s. Those treaties guaranteed the tribes half of the state’s wolf quota. Tribal leaders say they now want to protect the wolves from hunters.

WI Manufacturers Report Worker Shortages

The end of the enhanced federal unemployment benefits has some people heading back to restaurants and shops, but Wisconsin businesses are going to be looking at a worker shortage for a while to come.  Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce’s Kurt Bauer yesterday said Wisconsin didn’t have enough workers before the coronavirus, and the state doesn’t have enough workers now. WI Hospitalizations Top 1000

Wisconsin’s hospitals say over a thousand people are in the hospital with the coronavirus. The state’s Hospital Association updated its numbers yesterday. Of the more than a thousand people hospitalized with the virus, 322 are in the ICU. That’s about where Wisconsin’s hospitalization numbers have been for the past week.
