Kids in Mosinee schools are looking at much longer bus rides to get to school this year. The school district is one of many in Wisconsin that don’t have enough school bus drivers. It looks like Milwaukee’s next police chief is already on the job. The city’s Fire and Police Commission yesterday unanimously voted to ask acting Police Chief Jeffery Norman to be the only person to apply for the permanent job. Norman has been acting chief since December.  A Manitowoc County teen is headed to prison for 20 years for the death of a seven-year-old relative.  Damian Hauschultz pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in the 2018 death of Ethan Howard Schultz and was sentenced today.  Other members of the family have faced charges in the case including Damian’s parents.  Tina Hauschultz is serving a five-year sentence for failing to prevent harm to a child and Timothy Hauschultz is charged with felony murder and will go on trial later

The University of Wisconsin’s Madison community is celebrating achieving its COVID-19 vaccination goals.  The university announce today that 91-percent of the Madison campus community is either fully vaccinated or have received at least one dose of the vaccine.  Eighty-eight-percent are fully vaccinated and beyond the two-week waiting period after their final dose.  Ninety-two-percent of students living on campus and 99-percent of professors are fully vaccinated. 

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) confirms that a deer farm in Outagamie County has tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD). Positive samples were confirmed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames, Iowa. The farm was already under quarantine after receiving animals from a CWD affected farm. The herd of approximately 30 deer will remain under quarantine while an epidemiological investigation is conducted by DATCP and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) veterinarians and staff.

Attorney General Josh Kaul today announced an arbitration panel has ruled in favor of the State of Wisconsin in a dispute with Philip Morris USA, Inc., RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, and other cigarette manufacturers.
