A farming accident injures a man in Buffalo County. On September 5th the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call of a UTV crash located on private property off of County Road U in the Town of Montana. 59 year old George Salwey was reportedly wedged within a Kubota UTV after striking a large whole in a farm pasture.  Upon arrival of emergency crews, they assessed and treated the driver and used extrication tools to removed him from the

Hospital workers at UW Hospital in Madison are facing a fourth surge of COVID-19 cases. Some nurses say patients aren’t able to have their families visit and they are very sick. UW Health reports there are four times as many COVID patients as there were on Independence Day.

Two people are hospitalized after hitting a deer in Pepin County. They were driving a motorcycle when they hit a deer on Highway 35. The condition of each rider is unknown and the crash remains under investigation.

We are still waiting for an official total on the number of people shot late last night in Racine. Police say several people were wounded in a shooting just after midnight. Neighbors say they heard as many as 30 shots. Racine Police may have more answers about the shooting later today.

It was a violent Labor Day in Madison. Police say one person was shot and killed, another was shot and wounded, and there was a third shooting late last night. No one was hurt in the last shooting. Madison Police say no one is in custody for any of the shootings.

The seven thousand Afghan refugees at Wisconsin’s Fort McCoy need medical care and warm clothes. Commanders say they are dealing with immediate needs as people arrive at the base. Fort McCoy can handle as many as 13 thousand Afghans, though it’s not clear if there will ever be that many at the base at one time. Doctors say there’s another respiratory disease making the rounds in Wisconsin. RSV usually doesn’t start to appear until later in the fall, but doctors say they started to see a spike in cases back in July. RSV is usually just a cough and mild symptoms for most people, but it can be more serious for the very young and the very old. Doctors say the symptoms of RSV are similar to the coronavirus, which sometimes makes it difficult to spot.

Wisconsin’s election managers are looking to take the first step toward drawing a new political map this week. The state’s Elections Commission will meet Thursday to talk about the redistricting process. Wisconsin lawmakers have to draw a new political map based on the 2020 Census, those Census numbers were delivered last month. Wisconsin is expecting a heavily-politicized court fight over the new map. Lawmakers are supposed to have the new map drawn in time for next spring’s elections.
