The coronavirus spread is slowing a bit in Wisconsin. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said 17 of the state’s 72 counties have critically high coronavirus activity. The advisory will remain in effect indefinitely and stems from concern over chemical contamination of the drinking water linked to an increased risk of a variety of cancers and diseases. That’s 38-thousand fewer than the previous week’s revised total and well below analysts’ estimate of 345-thousand. The biggest jumps in initial claims were in California, Michigan, Texas, Washington, DC, and Minnesota. The sharpest declines were in Virginia, Maryland, Arizona, Louisiana, and Ohio.
