Dane County Extends Mask Mandate

The Dane County mask mandate is being extended through Thanksgiving.  A new emergency order issued today pushes the date to end the requirement to November 27th.  At this time county health officials don’t expect to renew the emergency order.  Everyone two-years-old and older must wear masks in an enclosed public space.

Deadly Crash in Barron Co.

On Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 3:36 p.m., the Barron County 911 Center received a call of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 48 near the Barron/Polk County line, west of Cumberland. Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Cumberland Police Department, Cumberland Fire Department, Cumberland Ambulance, Barron County First Responders and the Life Link Helicopter all responded to the scene. Public Asked to Provide Ornaments for Tree Honoring Troops

Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers invite members of the military family community in Wisconsin to contribute ornaments for this year’s “Tribute to our Troops” holiday tree at the Executive Residence in Maple Grove, Wisconsin. Veterans Club Holds Clothing Drive for Afghan Refugees at Fort McCoy

 University of Wisconsin-Stout Veterans Club President Eric Gritzmacher believes in the power of helping each other. Gritzmacher and other members of the club have started a clothing drive to help Afghanistan refugees restart their lives. Some 13,000 Afghan evacuees are at Fort McCoy, a western Wisconsin military base, after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. New and like new clothing is being collected at the Memorial Student Center in bins inside the Involvement Center and Stoutfitters, the university bookstore. The bins will be up until Monday, Nov.

Local Community Garden Has Deep Community Roots

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital’s community garden produced more than 3,500 pounds of locally grown food during the 2021 growing and harvest season; all was donated to eleven area food pantries. Since 2013 when hospital volunteers began the garden project, more than nine tons of produce have been donated.  Each spring HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital volunteers prepare the soil, ready the irrigation system and pull weeds so the garden plots are ready for planting. Favre Up “4” Feud

The feud between Brett Favre and Mississippi’s state auditor isn’t dying down. Favre took to Twitter on Friday to blast Auditor Shad White, Favre was paid for speeches and a PSA campaign with what turned-out to be misspent welfare money. White has been pressing Favre to repay the money. Favre says he’s returned the nearly one million-dollars, but then blasted White for what he calls lies about no-show speeches. Elections Chief Stands Firm

Wisconsin’s elections chief says she’s not going anywhere. Elections Commission administrator Meagan Wolfe on Friday said she is not going to step down for the commission. A growing number of Wisconsin Republican lawmakers say Wolfe needs to resign because of mismanagement at the commission, and questions about how Wisconsin’s election was managed last year. Wolfe said elections in the state were safe and secure. The calls for her job come after new allegations of voter fraud from Racine County’s sheriff.

Jury Selection Planned Today

Jury selection starts today in Wisconsin in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial.  Kenosha County Circuit Judge Bruce Schroeder is presiding over the legal proceedings.  Rittenhouse is charged with homicide and attempted homicide in the shooting deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber in August of 2020.  The shootings happened during a street protest in Kenosha. The defense claims Rittenhouse fired his weapon in self defense and was in Kenosha to help protect businesses from looters.  The prosecution says the accused, who was 17-years

Resettlement Plans Include Wisconsin

Wisconsin is now in-line for as many as 850 Afghan refugees. Jewish Social Services of Madison on Friday said they’re being told to prepare for more families to stay in the state. Most of the Afghans who are staying in Wisconsin will live in Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Wausau, and the Fox Valley.

Probation Ordered After Prison Fight

An Eau Claire man who got into a fight in the city’s jail will not spend more time behind bars. A judge on Friday sentenced 30-year-old James Rogers to 18 months’ probation. He got into a fight with another prisoner back in August. Prosecutors say Rogers pleaded no contest in the case.
