The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) confirms that a white-tailed deer from an Eau Claire County hunt ranch has tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD). It was three officers wounded, and the suspect in Wauwatosa’s weekend hotel shooting is a felon who should not have had a gun. Tosa Police say the officers were wounded while checking into what was an unrelated case of shots being fired at the Radisson on Mayfair Road Saturday night. We have the names of the people involved in last week’s officer-involved shooting in Eau Claire. Police yesterday identified the victim as 30-year-old LeKenneth Miller. Officers say he’d broken into a woman’s home, stabbed one woman and was chasing another when police arrived. Two officers, Kristopher O’Neill and Jason Kaveney, shot and killed Miller when he refused to drop the knife. The FBI is handling the case of human remains found at Fort McCoy. Hunters found the remains over the weekend. Yesterday, commanders say they don’t believe the remains have anything to do with the nearly 13 thousand Afghan refugees staying at the fort, or any of the soldiers who serve there. There’s no word just how old the remains are. The FBI is working with the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the remains.

The man who was wounded by Kyle Rittenhouse says he pulled his gun first. Gaige Grosskreutz testified for the prosecution yesterday. He admitted to illegally having a gun on that violent night in Kenosha last year, and said he pulled it out of his waistband before he chased Rittenhouse down. Grosskreutz says it wasn’t until Rittenhouse saw his gun that Rittenhouse fired. Grosskreutz was wounded in the bicep. Rittenhouse’s lawyers have maintained since last summer that this is a case

Eau Claire Police are looking for whoever stole the fish from a sculpture in Phoenix Park. The fish was in the mouth of the bear featured in the Salmon Runner sculpture. Officers say they are reviewing security camera footage from the area, and are looking for the stolen fish. Eau Claire sculpture tour’s Julie Pangallo says it’s disappointing to see someone vandalize another sculpture. She’s offering a 500 dollar reward for the return of the stolen fish.

Wisconsin is seeing fewer counties with the highest coronavirus spread. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said just four counties in the state have critically high activity. That number was nearly 20 last month. Almost every single other county is where it’s been for months, with very high activity. Researchers at UW-Madison are looking into coronavirus vaccinations for the next set of kids. The school yesterday said it is studying vaccinations for kids between six-months and five-years-old. Research teams say they’ve already selected the kids and are ready to start their work soon. The federal government recently approved the coronavirus vaccine for kids between five-years-old and eleven-years-old. UW researchers helped in that trial as well.
