Oldest Living Tuskegee Airman Marks 102 Years

The oldest living Tuskegee Airman turns 102-years-old today.  Brigadier General Charles McGee served in World War Two as part of a legendary unit of African American pilots who served during segregation.  McGee served at a time when Black Americans faced discrimination, but the airmen put their lives on the line for the country.  They flew more than 15-thousand missions and destroyed more than 100 Nazi aircraft.

WI Road Project Stalled Until Summer

Lane expansion for the Beltline Highway is being delayed until the summer.  The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has plans to open up the inside median shoulders of the Beltline to be used as flex lanes during heavy traffic times.  However, due to a shortage of software chips needed for the signs that will be used, the project is being put on hold.  The D-O-T says the signs will be installed and tested in the spring and the lanes should be open in

Officer Cleared in October Shooting

Prosecutors in Chippewa County are clearing a deputy in an October officer-involved shooting. The D.A. in Chippewa Falls yesterday said Sergeant Martin Folczyk shot and killed a suspect in self defense. Investigators say Folczyk shot and killed Lance Stelzer after Stelzer attacked him with hornet spray. WI Man Faces Prison Time After Thefts

A northern Wisconsin man who went on a stealing bender this spring is headed to prison as part of a plea deal. A judge yesterday sentenced Jonathon Bishop to five years in prison for breaking into two homes in Rothschild and then stealing a police car. It all happened back in April. Sonnentag Center Plans Spring Start

The timeline for the Sonnentag Center is speeding-up. The university yesterday said crews will start work on the new event center next spring, and they plan to open the doors in 2024. The new Sonnentag Center will replace the old Zorn Arena on the UW-Eau Claire campus. UW System Tests Idea of No Testing

The UW System wants to give every high school student in the state a break on the ACT or SAT. University leaders are asking to extend the school’s test-optional policy until the 2024-2025 school year. That policy started last year during the height of the coronavirus school closures. La Crosse Spends Stimulus to House Homeless

La Crosse is spending some of its coronavirus stimulus money to rent rooms for the homeless. The city yesterday said it’s spending seven-hundred-thousand-dollars to rent rooms at a local Econo Lodge for the homeless. La Crosse plans to keep them in the rooms until March. Mayor Mitch Reynolds says, after that, La Crosse will need a more permanent solution.

It’s that time of year again. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is asking drivers to look-out for snowplows, and to give them room to work. WIS-DOT says the December Law of the Month is the reminder that drivers must get out of the way of snowplows. That includes not following them too closely or driving too fast on slick roads. Calls for Removal of MKE Co. DA Continue

Waukesha County’s state legislative delegation wants Milwaukee County DA John Chisholm removed over the parade deaths.  Senate President Chris Kapenga and 15 other Republicans sent a letter to Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers accusing Chisholm of dereliction of duty.  They believe Chisholm should resign after his office recommended a thousand dollars bail for the man later suspected of killing six while driving into the Waukesha Christmas Parade.  The DA said last week an inexperienced prosecutor who didn’t have access to a public safety
