The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force today announced that Bryan N. Neuswanger, age 39, was arrested in Grantsburg, Wis. on October 8, 2021 for causing mental harm to a child and exposing harmful material to a child. Mr. Neuswanger is a teacher at HACIL Virtual Charter School in Hayward, Wis. Senator Preps for Return to Duty

State Senator Andre Jacque is getting ready to return to duty following his hospitalization for COVID.  The De Pere Republican will remotely chair next week’s Senate Committee on Human Services, Children and Families.  He was put on a ventilator in late August after testing positive for the virus.  Jacque has not said if he’s gotten the inoculation but his wife told Action 2 News three people in their family are fully vaccinated.

Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway wants an apology after a subpoena over last year’s 2020 presidential election was dropped.  She told reporters it seems like former Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman doesn’t know how to run investigations and have put clerks through the wringer.  Gableman canceled an interview with Rhodes-Conway and four other mayors late yesterday. He also told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel earlier this week he does not have a “comprehensive understanding” of how elections work.

Missing Teen Returns

A Janesville teen is back home after an over a month-long disappearance.  Police say Dashun Wheeler had gotten back with his family today without providing specifics.  The 18-year-old was reported missing earlier this week with friends and family saying he hadn’t talked with them.

Mobile Mammography Heads to Rural Communities

In June 2021, Prevea Health, in partnership with HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals, began providing mobile mammography services to residents in rural western Wisconsin communities. Thompson Plans UW STOUT Visit

Tommy Thompson, president of the University of Wisconsin System, is scheduled to help UW-Stout students celebrate reaching a 70% COVID-19 vaccination rate when he visits campus on Monday, Oct. 11. Tunnels to Towers Connects With WI Family

A non-profit that helps the families of fallen service members and first responders has paid off the mortgage of a local Air Guard pilot who crashed on a training mission. Tunnels to Towers paid the rest of what was owed on Major Durwood Jones’ home. He died when his F-16 went down last December in the UP. He left behind a wife and two young sons.

UW Madison Logs-In to Facebook Study

UW-Madison is getting three-quarters of a million-dollars to study how to fight misinformation on Facebook and Twitter. The university’s school of journalism announced the grant yesterday. Professor Mike Wagner is going to study the best way to promote fact checkers and fight misinformation. Though no one is saying just what misinformation they are looking to fight. The plan is to buy ads on both platforms and see which is the best way to counter the information they don’t like.
