CWD Detected In Fond du Lac Doe

A wild deer tests positive for Chronic Wasting Disease in Fond du Lac County.  The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the doe was reported earlier this month after showing signs of the disease.  Because of the positive test, the existing baiting and feeding ban in Fond du Lac County will be extended for three years.

The average price for regular gas in Wisconsin is the same as a week ago and 26-cents lower than the national average.  Triple-A says the cost of gas across the Badger State today is three-dollars-and-14-cents and the national average is three-40.  Drivers are paying three-14-a-gallon in Kenosha and Janesville, three-12 in Green Bay, three-ten in Madison, three-oh-oh-two in Fond du Lac and three-23 in Superior and Eau Claire.

EC County renews Gold Level Wisconsin Healthy Communities Designation

Eau Claire County has been recognized for its work to improve local health by receiving a WisconsinHealthy Communities Gold Designation (2021-2024). Trial Set to Begin Monday

All eyes are going to be on Kenosha starting next week. Kyle Rittenhouse is due to go on trial starting Monday. Rittenhouse is facing homicide and weapons charges for killing two people and wounding a third during one of Kenosha’s nights of violence in August of last year. His lawyers say he fired in self defense. Jury selection is first on Monday. The judge in the case has set aside two weeks for the trial.

Racine Sheriff Calls for Further Election Investigations

There’s another investigation into last year’s election, and this time it’s from law enforcement. Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling yesterday unveiled evidence that he says shows the Wisconsin Elections Commission broke the law when it banned special voting deputies from nursing homes across the state then told workers in those homes to fill-out ballots for people who were unable to do it themselves. ACLU Involved in Local Discrimination Case

The ACLU is appealing to the state over claims of racial discrimination in Chippewa Falls schools. The group yesterday asked the State’s Department of Public Instruction to review the case. WI Hospitalization Rates are Falling

Wisconsin’s coronavirus hospitalizations are falling.  The state’s Hospital Association yesterday said 887 people are in the hospital with the virus. That’s down by more than 120 over the past week alone. The Hospital Association says just 281 people are in the ICU, that number is down as well. The Hospital Association does not track how many people are hospitalized with the virus, versus how many people are hospitalized because of it.
