Investigators say they died when their car hit a semi on Highway 54 early Saturday morning. The sheriff’s office says the investigation remains on-going.

There are 65 candidates for seven open spots in the department. Saturday’s test included a 300 meter sprint, a one and a half mile run, vertical jump, push-ups, sit-ups, and an agility run. The candidates already took the written test. They should get their results in a few weeks.

The frozen road law allows big trucks to carry heavier loads of logs, sand, or salt across the state.
