Peaceful Ending to Thanksgiving Day Standoff

Eau Claire Police say Thanksgiving Day standoff ended peacefully. Officers responded to a call about a person with a weapon at the Villa Diann Mobile Home Park between Eau Claire and Lake Hallie yesterday morning. When they arrived, the person was holed-up in a trailer. After about an hour, officers say the person surrendered and was taken to jail. No one was hurt in the standoff.

Cooking Fire Calls Crews to EC Home

It was a cooking fire that had responders out ahead of Thanksgiving. On Tuesday November 25, 2021 at 17:51, The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to 215 Hudson Street for an appliance fire in a residence. When fire units arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke in the kitchen from a grease fire coming from a pot on a stove top. Driver Involved in Buggy Crash Faces Charges

We’re waiting for more details about a horse and buggy crash in Taylor County that sent eight people to the hospital. It happened Wednesday afternoon near the Town of Little Black. The sheriff’s department says a driver smashed into the buggy from behind. Ten people were in the buggy at the time, eight of them were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Deputies aren’t saying much about the other driver, but say he’s in jail and awaiting formal charges.

Eleven Injured in Portage Co. Crash

The sheriff in Portage County says a Thanksgiving Day wreck left eleven people injured. Deputies say a van rolled-over yesterday morning along Highway 10 near Eau Pleine. There are not a lot of details, but early reports indicated one person was tossed from the van and another had to be cut-out of the wreckage. Investigators are looking to see if ice played a role in the wreck.

WI Boosters Get Boost

More people continue to get their coronavirus booster shot in Wisconsin. The state’s Department of Health Services said, as of Wednesday, 964 thousand people in the state have gotten a third jab. It is the latest sign of the season. The lights at Chippewa Falls’ Christmas Village are on. Crews flipped the switch yesterday to turn the lights at Irvine Park on. This is the 34th year for the Christmas Village. Folks can drive through the park and see the lights anytime between now and the end of year.

Gooble Wobble Sees Community Lace Up

They were running again this Thanksgiving in Chippewa Falls. The second annual Gobble Wobble drew about 250 people for a race or walk. Last year that had about 100 runners. Organizer Lisa Schuetz hosted the Wobble at her tavern in Chippewa Falls. She says the run/walk raised three thousand dollars for the Autumn Community Sunshine Fund. That’s a charity set-up to remember Autumn Helgeson, one of the three Lake Hallie Girls Scouts who died back in 2019.

Packers Stock Sale Still Strong

The Packers are closing-in on the halfway point of its stock sale. The team on Wednesday said it’s sold over 41 million-dollars worth of stock in just eight days. The Packers are looking to sell 90 million-dollars worth of shares. You can still buy-in, at 300 dollars a piece. The sale is scheduled to run until February 25th, or when shares run out.
