Wisconsin Gets Budget Boost For Governors Race

There won’t be any shortage of money in the race for governor here in Wisconsin. The Democratic Governors Association yesterday pledged 21 million-dollars to help Tony Evers win a second term. The money is part of 71 million-dollars that the DGA is dedicating to seven states. Wisconsin’s haul is the second largest, only Michigan’s Democratic governor is getting more at 23 million-dollars.

Local Connection to UW Board

A former Eau Claire lawmaker, a student at UW-Parkside, and the chief communications and diversity officer for Goodwill in southeast Wisconsin are all now UW Regents. Governor Evers appointed the three yesterday, they will fill vacancies on the board that opened-up on Monday. Former Eau Claire State Representative Dana Wachs and Angela Adams will serve six year terms, student Jennifer Staton will serve just a one year term.

States Ranked By Drug Use

A new report says Wisconsin has one of the smallest drug problems in the U.S.  WalletHub says Wisconsin has the 12th-smallest drug problem thanks to a low drug use and addiction rate and few drug health issues.  WalletHub says neighboring Minnesota has the smallest drug problem and West Virginia has the biggest drug problem.

A north Madison playground is temporarily closed after a duck lays its eggs under a play structure.  Madison Parks says a duck recently laid eggs at the playground at Wheeler Heights Park.  Madison Parks has fenced off the area until the ducklings have hatched.

Chief Connects to Community

Chippewa Falls’ police chief is thanking the community for their role in Lily Peters’ investigation. Chief Matt Kelm took some time during last night’s city council meeting to thank the community for their support and compassion during the investigation into Peters’ death. The chief says that support helped officers and investigators as they looked for Lily, then looked for evidence in the case.

WI Rallies, Reacts to Roe V. Wade Leak

Add Eau Claire to the list of cities that saw an abortion protest this week. Dozens of people rallied outside the city’s courthouse yesterday.  Eau Claire County’s Democratic Party organized the rally, they say to make their voices heard.  The rally came after that draft decision that would overturn Roe v.
