Governor Tony Evers is celebrating good news on the employment front.  The Department of Workforce Development released U.S. Labor Statistics today showing the state’s preliminary unemployment rate tied for a record-low three-percent in November.  That is down two-tenths of a percent from October.  The last time the jobless rate was as low as three-percent was in November of 2018.

Expansion and new jobs are coming to Green Bay.  Georgia Pacific is planning to invest 500-million-dollars to build new equipment using air-dried-technology.  The construction project alone will utilize up to 500 workers.  The new paper machine is expected to be in operation in 2024.

Hobart Standoff Ends With Death of Suspect

Authorities in Hobart say a man involved in a standoff with police following a domestic incident is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Hobart police were called to an apartment on Centerline Drive for domestic disturbance yesterday.  A woman who said she was threatened by her boyfriend was able to escape after he fired a shot in the apartment.  A long standoff ensued with the police and after hours of no contact police used a drone and found the man

Deadly Crash in Dunn Co.

A crash is deadly in Dunn County. At 3:26 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, the Dunn County Communications Center received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of USH 12 and County Road K in the Township of Lucas. Fog Blamed For Deadly Crash

The sheriff in Marinette County is blaming yesterday’s fog for a chain-reaction crash that left one person dead. Sheriff Jerry Sauve says the wreck happened near Coleman yesterday morning. The sheriff says cars kept smashing into the back of each other at a railroad crossing on Highway 64. The crashes pushed some vehicles into a moving train. That led the train to jump the tracks.
