Wisconsin’s State of the State speech is returning to the Capitol in 2022. Governor Tony Evers yesterday said he will once again deliver the speech in-person, and in the statehouse. The governor moved his speech to the governor’s mansion earlier this year. Governor Evers is due to deliver his speech on February 15th.

While some communities across Wisconsin are booked solid, Eau Claire has plenty of open coronavirus appointments. Public health managers say tests are available at the Pablo Center downtown. The city/county health department says there is PCR testing from noon until 5 p.m. on weekdays, and antigen testing from noon until 8 p.m. every day of the week. Wisconsin’s coronavirus hospitalization numbers are holding steady. The state’s Hospital Association yesterday said there are 16-hundred people in the hospital with the virus. That is exactly the count the Hospital Association reported at the end of last week. The Hospital Association says there are just over 400 people in ICUs in the state. The Hospital Association does not track who is hospitalized with the virus and who is hospitalized because of it.

Oshkosh is extending its mask requirement.  The city yesterday said everyone, regardless of their vaccination status, must wear a face mask in city hall or other city buildings til at least the end of January.  City leaders say Winnebago County is seeing a spike in coronavirus cases this month.

Investigators say the Milwaukee County employee fired for taking bribes admitted that she took money to erase people’s child support debts. The county agreed to fire 45-year-old Daneen Pope following her arrest back in September. Prosecutors in Milwaukee are currently mulling charges. Investigators say she took hundreds of 50 dollar bribes to erase thousands of dollars in child support liens. Pope says her county salary of nearly 40 thousand-dollars wasn’t enough.

The city’s health department reopened its testing sites yesterday, and people were in line all day. The health department’s Nick Tomaro says thousands of people turned-out yesterday to get tested. Milwaukee will be able to test everyone, but it won’t happen quickly. The city is offering free tests at some sites just three days a week, meaning the long lines will get even longer. Two men are facing multiple charges after Officers responded to calls of suspicious activity. Two people are hurt after a plane crash in northern Wisconsin.  The Florence County Sheriff’s Office says a small plane crashed near Menominee River Road near Spread Eagle on Christmas morning.  Two people in the plane were taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in unknown condition.  The cause of the crash hasn’t been determined.

A southern Wisconsin family is being credited with saving a deer stranded on a frozen pond.  The family tells NBC 15 they recently spotted the deer near Fond du Lac.  The family says it used a rope to pull the deer back to dry land and help it away from the area.  The family thinks the deer could’ve been stranded for several days.
