On Sunday, January 30th at approximately 4:20 PM, A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for a seatbelt and speeding violation on Interstate 94 eastbound at milepost 32 near Knapp. The Trooper observed that the driver, 38 year old Louis Williams, showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Mr. Williams was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. The damage appeared consistent with a large truck having a difficult time making a right turn from N Apple Ave onto Waushara St. The street name sign was attached to wooden electrical pole that did not appear to receive damage. There are no suspects at this time. The street department was notified.
