State representative Timothy Ramthun is running for Governor.  The Republican from Kewaskum made the announcement during a rally in his home town yesterday.  Among the issues Ramthun supports is the decertification of the 2020 presidential election results in Wisconsin because of his claims of election fraud.

A measure to name Colby as the Wisconsin official state cheese is gathering momentum in the state senate.  Senate Bill 371 was approved at the committee level with bipartisan support in yesterday’s vote.  If approved, the measure would establish Colby cheese as Wisconsin’s state cheese.  Colby cheese was first developed by Joseph Steinwand in 1885 in the town of Colby.   The measure still must have full state senate and state assembly approval as well as Governor Tony Evers’ signature.

Police in Monroe bust a large drug trafficking operation.  Officers found the drugs during the search of a home on 21st Street early Thursday.  Three suspects were arrested at the scene and now face several illegal drug trafficking and manufacturing charges.   Nearly 40-pounds of pot, several marijuana plants, cocaine, heroin and magic mushrooms along with a gun and cash were confiscated from what investigators call a “drug trafficking place.”

Fair warning is issued to Wisconsin coffee drinkers who plan to get some java at Kwik Trip.  A Facebook post from the La Crosse based company yesterday says they are out of coffee cups.  Coffee drinking Kwik Trip customers are invited to bring their own mug or cup to the store to “fill-‘er up.”  Kwik Trip is also offering 99-cent coffee refills for any size container.

The man accused of running over and killing six people during a Christmas parade in Waukesha pleads not guilty.  Darrell Brooks Junior pleaded not guilty today to all 77 charges he’s facing in connection with the November attack.  Included in those 77 charges are six homicide counts, over 60 counts of reckless endangerment, and other charges.  Brooks would spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted of one homicide charge.  He’ll be in court again on March 11th.

A northwest Wisconsin man is fined for illegal deer hunting.  The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the man killed a 20-point buck in Burnett County during doe season in December.  The DNR says he also used corn to bait the deer and tried to register the buck as being shot before doe season.  He’s being forced to pay over eleven-hundred dollars in fines.

At approximately 10:47 am on February 11, 2022, the Rice Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 623 Phipps Avenue in the City of Rice Lake.  Upon arrival of the first fire department found a residential structure with heavy fire at the rear of the structure. The fire was contained to the back porch and the kitchen area with the rest of the home receiving major smoke and water damage.  The fire was placed under control

 A new wall honoring our veterans will be celebrated by a ribbon cutting ceremony in Marshfield’s Community Center on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 21, 2022 at 2 p.m. The Veterans Wall of Honor lists over 2,200 deceased veterans names from Marshfield displayed on a patriotic wall. The display is located across from the Parks and Recreation office on the north end of the center. The project is spearheaded by local resident and alderman Tom Buttke along with his two sisters,
