Big Plans for Tiny Home Village

Organizers at Hope Village in Chippewa Falls are raising money to expand their homeless tiny village. The plan is to raise two-point-seven million-dollars to add a community building and consolidate at their land on Kennedy Road. Chippewa Falls has been without a homeless shelter since 2014, when the Harmony House closed. The idea is to eventually have both eleven tiny homes, as well as five new duplexes and three new 6-plexes built at the new site.

There’s a new director at Eau Claire’s library. The library board yesterday said they’ve chosen Nancy Kerr as their new director. Kerr is coming to Eau Claire from Longmont, Colorado. She says she is excited about the opportunity in Eau Claire and at the L.E. Phillips Library.

WI Lawmakers Call For Justice Department Investigation

Wisconsin’s Republican congressmen want the Justice Department to step-in on the investigation into the firebombing at Madison’s pro-lie office.  All of the state’s Republican congressmen this week signed-on to a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, asking for a full federal investigation into the attack at the Wisconsin Family Action office. No Cameras Allowed in Courtroom

Cameras will not be allowed inside the court room during the trial of a man accused of killing a Madison doctor and her husband.  A judge recently ruled the media will be allowed to access court proceedings using a media courtroom, but no livestreaming will be allowed.  Khari Sanford is accused of killing Doctor Beth Potter and Robin Carre back in 2020.  Police say Sanford was dating the victims’ teenage daughter at the time.

Dane Co. Officials Investigate Dead Dogs

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two dogs are found dead in Verona.  The sheriff’s office says they were found late yesterday morning near Raymond Road and Oak View Drive near the Ice Age Trail.  The sheriff’s office says it’s unclear if a crime has been committed and anyone with information is asked to call its tip line.

Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office Forwarding Charges on Homicide Suspect

On Friday, April 2, 2021 at 12:26 am, deputies from the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Hungry Lake Lane in the Town of Sand Lake for a call of a deceased female. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of Cary Lynne Elkin, 42, of Stone Lake, WI deceased in the residence from multiple gunshot wounds. Wanted TN Man Arrested in Chippewa Co.

The search for a wanted man out of Tennessee ended in Chippewa County last week. The sheriff says deputies arrested Lamarcus Boyd back on May 5th. He’s wanted on aggravated robbery and weapons charges in Tennessee. Boyd has been in the Chippewa County Jail since his arrest, and will stay there until someone from Tennessee comes to pick him up.

Opinions Pile Up in Local Landfill Debate

There’s progress, but no deal yet. Neighbors and GFL continued their talks about a new landfill near Seven Mile Creek yesterday. Some of the folks who live near the current landfill don’t want to see the company expand, while others say they are looking for a fair payout to deal with the noise, smell, and traffic. GFL managers say they’re willing to work with neighbors to see what can be done.
