Aaron Rodgers is reportedly staying with the Packers.  NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says sources tell him Rodgers and the Packers have agreed to a four-year, 200-million dollar deal, making him the highest paid player in NFL history.  Rapoport says the deal includes 153-million dollars in guaranteed money.

Slam Dunk Star for Badgers

Badgers basketball star Johnny Davis is named Big Ten Player of the Year.  Davis was voted player of the year by Big Ten coaches and a media voting panel.  He was also named First Team All-Big Ten by both groups.  The La Crosse native is averaging 20 points and over eight rebounds per game this season.  Badgers head coach Greg Gard has also been named Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Officers Cleared in Madison Incident

No Madison police officers will be charged in connection with the deadly shooting of a man on the city’s southeast side.  Police say a man shot and killed himself when officers responded to his house for a distress call back in November.  Police say the man was suicidal and shot himself after an officer deployed their Taser on him.  The Dane County district attorney says there was no wrongdoing by the officers.

Census Numbers Show Gaps

New data shows the racial homeownership gap is getting worse in Wisconsin.  A report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum using 2020 census numbers says about 72 percent of white people in Wisconsin own the home where they live.  That number is just 41 percent for Hispanics and 25 percent for Black people.  Those numbers are all down compared to the 2010 census.

WI Stimulus Money Offers Help to Homeowners

Wisconsin’s governor is continuing his statewide tour to spread the state’s coronavirus stimulus money. Governor Evers was in Menomonie yesterday to talk about 92 million-dollars available as part of the Wisconsin Help for Homeowners program. That program gives qualifying homeowners up to 40 thousand-dollars in assistance to pay for late mortgage payments or overdue bills. Steady Decline Continues

There are now fewer than 400 people in the hospital with the coronavirus in Wisconsin. The state’s Hospital Association yesterday said 366 people are in the hospital with the virus across the state. WI Strip Search Laws Under Review

The laws regarding searching students could be changing after the almost-strip search of a handful of teenage girls in Oconto County. A number of northeast Wisconsin lawmakers yesterday said the current law isn’t clear enough. Cleanup Continues in Stoughton After Tornado

The focus is now cleaning-up in Stoughton. The city’s mayor declared a state of emergency yesterday. That will help Stoughton qualify for any available state or federal help to clean-up after Saturday’s tornado.
