Sex Offender to Be Released in Eau Claire

A registered sex offender will be living in Eau Claire County starting next week. Thirty-three-year-old Chizaram Okoroji will live at a home on Randall Street in Eau Claire beginning Tuesday, September 13th. He pleaded guilty to charges of second and third-degree sexual assault of an intoxicated victim in 2009 and sentenced to four years in prison and six years of extended supervision. UW La Crosse Reports Possible Monkeypox Cases

The University of Wisconsin at La Crosse is responding to two possible cases of monkeypox. In a letter to students, faculty, and staff, the university says the people in question are isolating as they await their test results. There will also be an increase in cleaning and disinfecting around campus. The school added that they are working with the Student Health Center and the county health department to identify and notify any close contacts.

Wisconsin Colleges Rank High

Several Wisconsin schools make the new Forbes list of the Top 500 Colleges and Universities in the U.S.  The University of Wisconsin Madison is the highest rated Wisconsin school, at number 49.  Marquette University in Milwaukee is the second highest Wisconsin school at number 159.  University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is the third highest Wisconsin university on the Forbes 500 list, at number 253.

UW Stout Constitutional Rights Events Open To Public

Dane Co. Invests In Combatting Opioid Epidemic

Dane County is including hundreds of thousands of dollars in its budget to address the opioid epidemic.  Dane County Executive Joe Parisi says the 740-thousand dollar Harm Reduction and Prevention Act will take six key actions, including community education, awareness, widespread distribution of Narcan and fentanyl test strips.  Parisi says 86 percent of the overdose deaths in Dane County last year were opiate-related.

Teenager Facing Attempted Homicide Charges In Onalaska Stabbing

A teenage boy is facing attempted homicide and burglary charges after police say he stabbed a teenage girl multiple times. The 15-year-old victim says she was asleep in her home in Onalaska when she woke up to find 17-year-old Austin Bailey attempting to strangle her. Cold Case Heats Up in 1985 Murder

A man is facing murder charges in a homicide case dating back to 1985. Sixty-year-old Donald Maier will be formally charged tomorrow with first-degree murder.
