Planned Parenthood Preps for Legal Strategy

The first legal challenge to Wisconsin’s abortion law could be filed this week. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin’s Michelle Velasquez said on Sunday that they are finalizing their legal strategy in the state. Abortion became illegal in Wisconsin when the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade last week. Wisconsin’s governor yesterday said he is looking for ways to fight the abortion law that is on the state’s books.

Wausau Schools Look to Boost Security

Wausau schools could be bringing-in an outside expert to help boost security. Wausau Superintendent Keith Hilts says they are looking at a school safety audit. The move comes after last month’s school shooting in Texas. Hilts says they would first take a look at the access points of schools and the district’s emergency plans. One of Wisconsin’s largest dairy groups wants to change how farmers are paid for milk in this country. The Edge Dairy Cooperative yesterday unveiled its plan to help dairy farmers in Wisconsin exist under the government’s milk-pricing system. Republican voters got a look at three of the four candidates running for governor in Wisconsin at the first debate last night in Green Bay. Frontrunner Tim Michels skipped the debate, and his opponents made sure to make it an issue. Republicans Rebecca Kleefisch, Kevin Nicholson, and Tim Ramthun all criticized Michels for not showing-up. WI Congressman Introduces Stop WOKE Meals Act

One Wisconsin Congressman wants Congress to stop the Biden Administration from using school lunch money to push schools to accept new transgender policies. Republican Congressman Glenn Grothman yesterday filed what he’s calling the Stop WOKE Meals Act. La Crosse Co. Looks to Boost Butterflies

 La Crosse County says it’s changing its mowing strategy to help the butterflies. The county yesterday said it won’t mow the grass along county highways until October. That’s when the county says monarch butterfly season ends. The plan is part of an effort by the state’s Department of Transportation to increase monarch butterfly habitats.

Rock The Riverfront Gives Back

The RCU Foundation announced that local charities will receive $27,500 following the 2022 Rock the Riverfront featuring the Charity Classic. This year’s event benefited three Veteran-focused charities that work with Veterans and their families to provide needed items and support services throughout a Veteran’s life after active service. Man Pleads Not Guilty in Workplace Shooting

The man accused of shooting and killing a coworker at a manufacturing company in Janesville will go to trial.  Kevin Todd appeared in court this morning where he pleaded not guilty and was bound over for trial.  Todd’s accused of shooting and killing one of his coworkers at Precision Drawn Metals back in April.  He’s charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
