Kind Cracks Open Final Corn Roast

Did ya EAR the news? It is the end of a political era in western Wisconsin. Congressman Ron Kind yesterday hosted his final corn roast in West Salem. Kind is retiring from Congress this year after 25 years. Governor Evers and Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes both turned out for yesterday’s roast. Kind’s retirement has opened-up western Wisconsin as one of a handful of possible swing seats in the November election.

Trump Endorses Steen

Former President Trump is jumping into the race against Wisconsin’s Assembly Speaker. Trump yesterday endorsed candidate Adam Steen because of Trump’s long-running feud with Assembly Speaker Robin Vos over the 2020 election. Trump called Steen a ‘rising patriotic candidate.’ Vos and the former president have clashed over Trump’s demands that Wisconsin overturn the results of the last presidential election. Vos has said that cannot happen. Vos said the former president’s new endorsement changes ‘nothing’ in his race.

Waiting in Line For Licensing Answers

The people who issue licensing for doctors, hairdressers, and plumbers in Wisconsin say if they got more money and more people they probably cut down on the wait time for one of those licenses. Department of Safety and Professional Services boss Dan Hereth yesterday blamed low pay and a lack of full-time employees for his agency’s months-long backlog of license renewals. The Eau Claire City- County Health Department is asking for your help to find a dog that bit a man on Monday, August 1st, 2022, at approximately 2:00 p.m. The bite happened at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, on the north end of Simpson Field (behind McPhee Physical Education Center). Child Responsible For Shooting of Seven Year Old

Police in Poynette say another child is responsible for the weekend shooting of a seven-year-old in the city.  Police say a boy under the age of ten shot a seven-year-old girl in the leg Saturday afternoon.  She’s expected to survive.  An adult man has been arrested in connection with the shooting on tentative charges of leaving or storing a loaded gun within the reach of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Man Rescued From Drum of Cement Truck

A man is rescued after the fire department says he got stuck in the drum of a cement truck north of Madison.  The fire department says the man was doing maintenance on the drum in Vienna late last night when he when he got stuck.  The fire department says he couldn’t fit through the access hatch so firefighters had to use a plasma cutter to get him out.  He was then taken to the hospital.

Milwaukee Continues Streak of Shootings

A 14-year-old is among the victims of Milwaukee’s latest day of shootings. Police in the city say three people were shot yesterday, including two people just 30 minutes apart. One of the people shot in those shootings was a 14-year-old boy. Milwaukee Police say they are looking for suspects in all three shootings. Yesterday’s shootings mean that Milwaukee has seen at least one person shot each day for the past 18 days.

Kenosha Goes to Voters With Marijuana Question

Kenosha is going to ask voters about marijuana this fall. The city’s common council last night approved an advisory referendum for the fall ballot. The question will ask voters if they want to see pot legalized and taxed in the state.
