Today Council Members Andrew Werthmann and Kate Beaton announce a plan to hold presidential campaigns accountable to the money they owe our city in the resources the Police department provides to keep event participants safe. “We want to make sure that no matter who you are, no matter how powerful, you’re paying your bills to the people of Eau Claire” said Werthmann.
“It is unacceptable that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton collectively owe over $50,000 to the taxpayers of Eau Claire from their last campaign 3 years ago. The people of Eau Claire pay their fair share. Why shouldn’t presidential candidates?” said Beaton
In the coming weeks Council Members Werthmann and Beaton will be working with City Staff and the Police Department to make sure our city fully recovers the costs that 2020 Presidential campaigns incur.
