The city of Eau Claire is ready to spend almost three-quarters-of-a-million-dollars to help some folks find an affordable place to stay.
The city council last night approved a 700-thousand-dollar request to invest in affordable housing. Two hundred-thousand of that will stay with the city, but the other half million is being earmarked for projects in the community.
Council member Andrew Werthmann says developers may be able to ask the city for part of the money as a loan, or the city may write-off costs for land and construction.
