A 59-year-old man is dead after competing in the Lake Mills triathlon.
A news release says the man went underwater during the swim portion of the event around 7:45 yesterday morning and had to be pulled to shore by rescue workers. Police say the man died at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital while rescuers were trying to resuscitate him. It’s believed a medical event happened before the man went under the water.
