Eau Claire County residents have one more chance this year to safely clear unwanted chemicals and hazardous waste out of the house and garage.
The county’s third and final Clean Sweep event of 2026 will be held Saturday, September 12th, from 8 a.m. until noon at 5200 Ryder Road in Eau Claire. County officials say the events can save the average participant more than $100 compared with scheduling an individual disposal appointment.
Residents can dispose of a long list of household hazardous materials for free, including oil-based paints, stains and varnishes, old fuel, used oil and filters, antifreeze, aerosol cans, pesticides and fertilizers, along with many cleaners, solvents and corrosive products.
Some items do carry a fee, including latex paint at $4 per gallon, certain light bulbs and propane cylinders.
