A suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting yesterday afternoon at Pewit’s Nest Nature Preserve near Baraboo.
Witnesses told dispatchers they saw a man pull the woman from a vehicle and shoot her multiple times before driving away. Authorities found the victim dead in the preserve parking lot from gunshot wounds. Officials say the suspect later fired shots into the Sauk Prairie Police Department before officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver.
Police say the same suspect was involved in both incidents, and there is no ongoing threat to the community as the investigation continues.
