Judges Panel Throws Out Lawsuit To Redraw WI Congressional Maps

A three-judge panel in Wisconsin is dismissing a challenge to the state’s congressional map.

The judges wrote in an 18-page ruling that the Wisconsin Supreme Court did not provide them with proper guidance in assigning them the case and determined it lacks the authority to rule on the matter. It comes after eleven Wisconsin residents filed a lawsuit last July alleging that the congressional map violated the separation-of-powers doctrine and resulted from “unlawful partisan gerrymandering.” Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has previously vetoed new maps that the GOP-controlled legislature drew in response to the 2020 census.
