The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an ongoing scam.
Authorities say residents are receiving phone calls from scammers, who claim family members need bailed out of jail or that they have a warrant for missing jury duty. The scammers then ask for payment over the phone. The sheriff’s office reminds residents that it will never call residents and ask for payments over the phone.
