AI data centers in Wisconsin are expected to use more energy than all homes in the state combined.
A new report by Clean Wisconsin says two approved data centers in Wisconsin — the Microsoft center in Mt. Pleasant and the Vantage center in Port Washington — report they could use three-point-nine gigawatts of energy. That’s enough to power four-point-three million homes, while US Census data shows Wisconsin has less than three million. There are three other proposed or approved data centers in the state.
