In Marathon County, first responders were dispatched Wednesday night to rescue three people who were in distress on the Eau Claire River.
The group was on the water in inner tubes when they realized they could not get themselves back to safety and called 9-1-1. Fire officials remind people that it is dangerous — especially at night — on the river system and the Eau Claire River.
