One of the oldest cold cases out of Delta County in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is being linked to a 78-year-old man from Argonne, Wisconsin.
The case dates back to 1986, when a woman was abducted at gunpoint near Big Fishdam River in Delta County. Investigators used forensic genetic genealogy to link DNA evidence to the Wisconsin man. Although charges were authorized, the man died earlier this week, just days before police planned to arrest him at his Wisconsin residence. Michigan State Police confirmed the identification of the victim, closing one of the region’s longest-unsolved cases.
