Green Lake County’s missing kayaker is now facing a divorce in addition to criminal charges.
Court records show that Ryan Borgward’s wife Emily filed for separation this week. The sheriff’s office says Borgward faked his death, fled the country, and spent time with a woman in the country of Georgia before running out of money and coming back home this week. He’s looking at misdemeanor obstruction charges for faking his death. His wife says she wants custody of their two teenage children. The couple have been married for 22-years.
Borgward has not yet fully explained what happened, or why he left. Their separation hearing is set for April.
