Bucks Win Opener, Does on the Way?

Milwaukee could soon be home to a WNBA team.

The group that owns the Bucks has submitted the paperwork to get a WNBA franchise. The Sports Business Journal is reporting that Milwaukee is among several cities looking to grab an expansion WNBA team. That list includes Philadelphia, Austin, Kansas City, Miami, central Florida, Nashville, Charlotte, Denver and maybe even Cleveland. Milwaukee had a professional women’s team decades ago. The Milwaukee Does played in the Women’s Professional Basketball League for one year in 1979.

Meanwhile, The Bucks muscled their way to a win to open the season last night.

Milwaukee beat the Sixers 124-109 last night. The Sixers’ Joel Embiid did not play. Without him, the Bucks were able to use their size to grab the win. Milwaukee is back home for its first game of the season at Fiserv tomorrow night. They take on the Chicago Bulls.
