Local officers were among those honored and added to the nation’s Police Officers’ Memorial .
Cameron police officer Hunter Scheel and Chetek police officer Emily Breidenbach were killed in a shootout with a suspect last April. St. Croix County deputy Kaitie Leising died in a shootout in May of last year. Pepin County Sheriff’s Office officer Starre Miles, who died in a car wreck back in 1945 was also added to the memorial as was Milwaukee police officer Peter Jerving. He was, shot and killed in the line of duty last February.
All were honored in a ceremony last night.
