A man arrested and accused of shooting and killing an Elkhorn couple at a sports bar will make his first court appearance today.
Witnesses at Sports Page Bar just after midnight on February 1st say a man was using a video game machine at the bar when he stood up and fired his gun. The bullets hit and killed Emerson and Gina Weingart. Three days later, police say they pulled over Thomas Routt and took him to the Walworth County Jail for contraband. Two days after that, he admitted to detectives that he was the man in the bar with a gun. Routt has previous felony convictions for burglary and arson.
