The Wisconsin birth rate increased two-point-five percent while Planned Parenthood paused abortions last year.
The IZA Institute of Labor Economics study says more than 15-hundred of the babies born in Wisconsin since June of 2022 were a result of Roe v. Wade being federally overturned. Wisconsin became one of 13 states with what the study classifies as a total abortion ban — but a Dane County judge ruled earlier this year that consensual abortions are legal in the state. Of the thirteen states with total abortion bans, the study says 32-thousand-300 babies born were also as a result of the decision.
