Capitol City Loves Canines, Local Pets Waiting Patiently

Locally we love our pooches and across the state, the capitol city echo’s that feeling! Madison is a great place for dogs, according to a new survey.

Consumer advice website MarketWatch is out with results of a new survey looking at America’s Dog-Friendliest Cities.  The rankings reflect such things as a city’s number of dog-friendly apartments, the number of veterinary offices, average veterinary costs, and the number of dog parks.  Madison is ranked Number 3, trailing only first-place Raleigh, North Carolina, and second-place Nashville.

On that note, if you are near that part of the state, The Dane County Humane Society is inviting the community to help Clear The Shelter this weekend.

Today and Sunday, adoption fees will be the lowest they’ve been all month.  Adoption fees for dogs will be reduced by 75 dollars, critter fees are reduced 50-percent and cat fees will be reduced to ten dollars for adults and seniors and 75 dollars for kittens.  Shelter hours are extended this weekend, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday.  The shelter currently has more than 80 animals that need homes.

Locally, there are always wonderful animals waiting to become pets and find their forever families.
