Wisconsin’s first case of West Nile virus in a person this year has been confirmed in a Dane County resident, state health officials announced Friday.
It’s the first confirmed case in Dane County since 2021 and only the second in five years. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services says most people who get infected with West Nile virus don’t get sick. Those who do become sick might experience fever, headache, muscle aches, rash, and fatigue.
