Wisconsin is following the national trend of rising gas prices.
The statewide average is three dollars and 63 cents a gallon, up nine cents from last week and up 25 cents from last month. Triple-A says gas prices have spiked recently because of the extreme heat, causing oil refineries to cut back and the price of oil to go up. Madison has been much less affected by the increase in gas prices, with prices up just three cents in the last week.
