UW-Madison is not getting a new engineering building in the new state budget.
The budget-writing Joint Finance Committee yesterday approved a three billion-dollar building plan that does not include money for the UW’s engineering building. The university wanted about 200 million from the state, and had called the new engineering building a top priority. State Rep. Mark Born says there are a lot of things that didn’t make the cut in the new state budget. The UW’s president says the university needs continued investment if the school is going to win the ‘war for talent.’
