There’s a new push to toughen Wisconsin’s laws for illegally passing school buses.
State Senator Jesse James and state Rep. William Penterman are pushing the idea less than a week after a Sauk County girl was killed by a pickup truck driver while she waited for her school bus. Wisconsin’s fines for passing a bus currently start at 30 dollars, and go up to 300 dollars. James and Penterman want to start the fines at 300 dollars, and take them as high as one thousand-dollars. The increase would be the first change to Wisconsin’s school bus laws since 1983.
