Madison is adjusting a city ordinance that limits the amount of salt that can be put on sidewalks to melt ice and snow.
The city says accumulating salt must now be removed from sidewalks. Property owners that don’t remove their salt could be fined the same way they could be fined for not removing snow. The first offense is a 124 dollar fine and the second offense is 187 dollars.
